Storm Rachel has left over 16,000 homes without power in Donegal, Cork, Killarney, Galway, Athlone, Tullow and Wexford region of Ireland.
"Storm Rachel swept in overnight bringing torrential rain and wind speeds of up to 150 km per hour on the west coast", The Irish Times has reported.
Donegal has been the worst hit by the storm, with over 10,000 homes without power. Met Éireann has forecast the storm to be at its worst this morning.
Storm Rachel has also forced number of flights from Dublin airport to get diverted advising the passengers to contact their airline for information.

According to Independent (Irish News), "Storm Rachel is being caused by a rapidly deepening low-pressure system that has been moving across the Atlantic, interacting with jet streams as it approaches the shores."
