Federal Emergency Management Agency: President Obama declares disaster in Michigan

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency has provided the federal disaster aid to the state of Michigan and ordered federal aid to supplement state, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said in its news release on September 25, 2014.

Federal disaster aid has been provided to the area affected by severe storms and flooding on August 11-13, 2014. Federal funding is available to affected individuals in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties.

More than 6 inches of rain fell in some parts of Metro Detroit on Aug. 11. President Obama on Thursday declared a disaster in Michigan.

According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), emergency management agencies in five states of United States have also been awarded more than $1.6 million in preparedness grants.
