Wildfire in Oklahoma today evacuates dozen people

About a dozen people have been evacuated from their homes because of wildfire in Oklahoma today that has burned 37 square miles.

The fire is 16 miles long and has destroyed one home, The Denver Post has written quoting the Woodward County emergency manager Matt Lehenbauer.

Oklahoma Forestry Services spokeswoman Michelle Finch-Walker said the fire is 20 percent contained and helicopters will be used to drop water on the flames.

The Woodward County emergency manager had earlier issued an evacuation order for a northeast area. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the fire had already burned about 23,000 acres on Monday night.
Another brush fire which broke on North Plum Street, near Highlands Golf Course has damaged a house north of Hutchinson Monday afternoon.

Crews from Kansas and Oklahoma have been working on it since Saturday, WIBW 13 News reported.
