The death toll from severe storm and heavy rain in Bangladesh have risen to 41.

A severe storm in Bangladesh has claimed lives of at least 33 people and injured 200 others. Fourteen people were reported killed yesterday. At least 19 more people were found dead in today's nor'wester across Bangladesh.
Severe storm hit Dhaka, Rajshahi, Bogra, Naogaon, Natore, Pabna, Sirajganj, Chapainawabganj, Gaibandha, Sherpur, Manikganj and Narsingdi districts of Bangladesh.
Bogra is the worst affected district with death toll at 19, The Daily Star reported. The 12-munite long storm with the speed of upto 121kmph hit over Bogra district leaving a trail of devastation.
According to bdnews24, the casualties occurred due to collapse of roofs and walls, landslide and lightning strike on Saturday and Sunday. Power outages have been reported in several areas across Bangladesh.
The nor'wester has affected around 91,894 families, District administration said. According to The Daily Star, around 28, 667 houses have been completely damaged and 70, 301 houses partially damaged. Atleast 26 educational institutions have been totally damaged while 228 educational institutions have been also affected.
The Bogra victim families have been compensated with Tk 5,000 each by local Police.
Severe local storms including tornadoes occurs frequently in Bangladesh. Severe local storms, the most important natural catastrophes in Bangladesh, during the pre-monsoon season in March, April and May in Bangladesh is called as "Nor'wester" locally or "Kalbaishaki" in Bangla.
