Typhoon Noul kills 2 in Philippines

Typhoon Noul (local name: Dodong) has claimed lives of at least two people in Philippines and forced evacuations of thousands others.

Typhoon Noul entered the Philippine area of Responsibility on May 7 forcing the evacuation of around 2,500 people in Northern Luzon.

As of 10 a.m local time, Typhoon Noul was located 65 kilometers north northeast of Basco, Batanes.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Noul is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Tuesday morning. The storm is expected to move towards Taiwan and Japan on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the state weather agency is monitoring a new tropical storm Dolphin which is expected to enter PAR on Sunday.

Noul is the third typhoon of the annual typhoon season and has became the second most intense tropical cyclone of the Northern Hemisphere in 2015.
