The University of Texas (UT) Health Science Center at Houston has received nearly $1.5 million FEMA grant to address volunteer firefighter health, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said in its news release on August 14, 2014.
The preparedness funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be used to assess the effectiveness of an internet-based firefighter health and wellness program for volunteer fire departments.
The primary goal of Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) grant is to reduce injury and prevent death among high-risk populations, the website further added.
