Winter storm in the US southwest has claimed lives of at least 13 people in five states over the weekend, US media reported.
According to the NBC news, fatalities are from Oklahoma, Texas, California, Arizona and New Mexico.
Freezing rain and cold temperatures have even hampered travel. More than 300 flights have been canceled at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport ahead of Thanksgiving. Note that the Thanksgiving holiday weekend is one of the most heavily traveled in the United States.

The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories for parts of Texas and Oklahoma, New Mexico and northern Arkansas until Tuesday morning.
