Flood alerts in Hawaii as tropical storm Flossie nears

Flood alerts have been issued by Hawaii State Civil Defense following a tropical storm Flossie.

As of 03:00 UTC Saturday, tropical storm Flossie was located 2070 km E of Hilo Hawaii.

Hawaii authorities has issued an alert for "torrential" rains and dangerous flash floods early next week. Tropical storm Flossie has a 5 percent chance to grow into a hurricane.

A National Weather Service projection has forecasts tropical storm Flossie passing directly over Hawaii early Tuesday.

There is high danger of flash floods, mudslides and rockslides due to tropical storm Flossie, NBC News reported.

Tropical Storm Flossie is the sixth named storm of the Pacific hurricane season.
