Environment Canada confirms EF2 tornado in Ontario

Environment Canada has confirmed that an EF2 tornado touched down in Glenarm, 12 km west of Fenelon Falls.

EF2 tornado had wind speeds between 180 and 200 km/hour.

Strong storms have damaged roofs of several houses.

Environment Canada is surveying the tornado damage and trying to find the length and width of the tornado.

This is the second tornado of the season in Ontario. Earlier an EF1 tornado touched down in Canada on April 18, 2013.

There is need of better tornado warning system in Ontario, Huffington Post Canada writes quoting local residents.

Around 80 tornadoes touch down in Canada each year. Canada is the second country in the world after US with the most tornadoes per year. Canadian tornadoes are common in Ontario, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewa and Quebec.
